We are seeking an experienced, growth-minded Hospice Executive Director to lead the day-to-day operations of our hospice agency. The Executive Director is responsible for the overall management and operations of the agency, including the effective and efficient use of resources in carrying out the organization's mission. Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, the Executive Director exercises full authority within established policies, program parameters, and budgetary guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership

Direct and manage day-to-day agency operations to ensure high-quality patient care and operational excellence.

Lead agency growth initiatives with a strong focus on increasing census and expanding community presence.

Develop and execute strategic plans to achieve organizational goals and performance objectives.

Monitor methods of program administration, planning, supervision, and evaluation.

Ensure effective utilization of agency resources and maintain financial accountability.
Patient, Family, and Community Focus

Foster a culture where patients and families always come first.

Build and maintain positive relationships with referral sources, healthcare providers, community partners, patients, families, and employees.

Promote exceptional customer service internally and externally.

Serve as a visible leader in the community to strengthen referral relationships and support agency growth.
Regulatory and Compliance Management

Monitor day-to-day compliance with all state, federal, accreditation, reimbursement, and regulatory requirements.

Ensure adherence to Medicare, Medicaid, HIPAA, and all applicable regulations.

Manage the development, implementation, and ongoing review of administrative policies and procedures.

Oversee program compliance with contractual agreements and regulatory standards.
Team Leadership and Human Resources

Lead, coach, and develop a team of 5-10 direct-report leaders and managers.

Delegate responsibilities appropriately to administrative and supervisory personnel.

Determine staffing needs and workforce planning strategies to support agency growth and operational effectiveness.

Establish qualifications and responsibilities for all personnel.

Authorize appointments to staff positions in collaboration with the Vice President of Operations.

Ensure compliance with personnel policies and procedures.

Build a high-performing culture focused on accountability, engagement, and service excellence.
Administrative Responsibilities

Negotiate and execute contracts with community providers and monitor compliance with contractual agreements.

Maintain confidentiality due to access to sensitive business and patient information.

Maintain regular, reliable attendance and flexibility to meet operational needs.

Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
-
Graduate from an accredited registered nursing program strongly preferred

Minimum Associate degree in business, healthcare or a related field and a minimum of 5 years related experience

Minimum of 3 years of supervisory or administrative experience in a hospice or home health setting

Experienced in program administration including knowledge of healthcare policies and reimbursement practices
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Proven track record of growing hospice census and developing referral relationships.

Strong leadership and talent management capabilities.

Excellent understanding of hospice operations, compliance, and reimbursement requirements.

Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive results in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Ability to complete documentation accurately, appropriately, and in a timely manner.

Demonstrated commitment to patient-centered care and service excellence.
Additional Requirements

Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and appropriate automobile insurance, or ability to utilize public transportation.

Ability to travel within the service area as needed.
