Job Purpose
The Ports, Terminals & Petrochemical Equipment Sales Representative is responsible for managing a sales territory to achieve sales goals and strategic objectives by building new client relationships and closing sales to maximize profitability. This position reports directly to the General Sales Manager.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Developing and increasing equipment sales in the respective territory focusing on ports, terminals, and petrochemical facilities.
- Generate and build strong and lasting business relationships with prospective and existing customers
- Resolves basic customer product and technical problems
- Forecast sales and communicate with operations to ensure availability of inventory
- Gathers, identifies and understands competitive landscape
- Follow, track and understand national and local economic trends and developments that impact the local market
- Be involved in trade associations, area chambers and state and local
- Actively participate in organized and computer training to assist in personal development and staying current with new products and benefits
- All other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skill & Ability Requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills, excellent time management skills and ability to work unsupervised
- Possess effective customer service skills
- Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism and integrity
- Display excellent judgement at all time
- Actively use Zoho CRM to develop and track sales territory
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of three years of sales experience within construction materials or related industry
- Experience selling Volvo Construction Equipment and related lines preferred
- A valid driver’s license is required
- Must be able to travel throughout your designated territory daily.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (MS Word and Excel) and other software packages relevant to the position
- Must be comfortable communicating with all levels of your customer’s organization. (jobsite personnel/operators to upper management and decision makers)
- Able to perform equipment demonstrations

The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Working Conditions & Additional Requirements
This job operates in an office and field environment. Office hours are from 8:00am to 5:00pm with occasional needs outside standard business hours to accommodate meetings, training and projects. Frequent travel is required. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
This position routinely requires use of personal or company vehicles on company business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record. Employees in this position will be subject to random Motor Vehicle Record and alcohol and drug testing as a condition of continued employment.
