Assistant Teacher – Early Childhood (Ages 1–5)
Location: Oak Harbor, WA
Job Type: Full-Time or Part-Time | Contract Position | Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM
Salary: $18/hour
About the Role:
As an Assistant Teacher, you’ll support our Lead Teachers and Director in creating a warm, joyful, and play-based environment for children aged 6 months to 5 years.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with daily routines (meals, diapering/toileting, transitions, and outdoor play)
- Support children’s social-emotional growth
- Maintain a safe and clean classroom
- Set up and engage in learning activities
- Communicate effectively with the Lead Teacher and Director
Required Qualifications:
- 18+ years old
- High school diploma or GED
- Willingness to pass a DCYF background check
- Current (or willingness to obtain) CPR/First Aid and Bloodborne Pathogens certifications
- Enthusiasm for working with young children!
Preferred (not required):
- STARS 30-hour Child Care Basics training
- Previous experience in a licensed childcare setting
- Familiarity with the MERIT system
Screening Questions:
- Do you have experience with children aged 1–5?
- Can you work between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday–Friday?
- Are you willing to complete background checks and required training?
