Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometry Front Desk Associate to join our healthcare team. Optometric teching experience very helpful. This vital role requires a professional who excels in providing exceptional patient service, managing administrative tasks efficiently, and supporting the smooth operation of the optometry clinic. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and familiarity with medical office systems and procedures. Duties
- Greet patients warmly upon arrival and ensure a positive first impression of the clinic.
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and handle insurance verification processes accurately.
- Schedule appointments using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth, ensuring optimal patient flow.
- Manage patient check-in and check-out procedures efficiently, including updating medical records and documentation review.
- Assist patients with intake forms, collect co-pays, and explain clinic policies clearly and professionally.
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Answer multi-line phone systems with professionalism, providing information or directing calls appropriately.
- Support billing processes by understanding medical coding including CPT, ICD-10/ICD-10 codes, and EHR accurate billing and documentation.
- Handle clerical duties such as filing, data entry, typing, and managing office supplies to ensure a well-organized front desk environment.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to facilitate smooth clinic operations and support care plans documentation.
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical administrative support within an optometry or healthcare setting; clinic experience preferred.
- Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) essential.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding , CPT coding, and Medicare guidelines is helpful.
- Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and office management is helpful.
- Excellent customer service skills with professional phone etiquette and effective communication abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Bilingual capabilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
- Previous experience optometry office environments will be considered an asset.
