SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER
Missoula, MT | St. George, UT | Salt Lake City, UT | Full-time | Hybrid
Compensation: Competitive. PE licensure support, bonus, and a clear path to growth
About AEG
We're a licensed SMEP engineering firm. Structural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and commissioning: one integrated team, not separate silos. Our projects run from luxury resort and hospitality to complex healthcare to high-end residential across the Mountain West.
We're growing, and the person who joins us in this role will have real influence over where the mechanical practice goes next.
The Role
You'll own mechanical projects from schematic design through construction administration, manage client relationships, and be involved in proposals and business development alongside the design work. The projects are technically varied and the portfolio is strong. You'll work alongside structural, electrical, and commissioning engineers on work that draws repeat clients and hard problems.
This is a role for someone who wants to help shape a practice, not just run projects within one.
What You’ll Do
– Design HVAC and plumbing systems from concept through construction documents; run loads, size and select equipment
– Develop full Revit design packages — drawings, specifications, and equipment schedules
– Ensure code compliance across energy, mechanical, and project-specific requirements
– Review and develop sequences of operations for mechanical systems
– Coordinate with structural, architectural, and other disciplines throughout design
– Provide CA support: submittal reviews, RFI responses, project meetings, and as-builts
– Manage project scope, budget, and schedule
– Build and maintain client and architect relationships; participate in business development efforts and proposal preparation
– Represent AEG at industry events and in the regional engineering community
– Lead and mentor members of the mechanical engineering team
What We’re Looking For
– Active PE license — required
– 8+ years of building mechanical systems design experience, commercial and residential
– Experience leading or mentoring a technical team
– Full project lifecycle: concept through construction documents and construction administration
– Proficiency in Revit and Bluebeam Revu
– Comfortable in front of clients, owners, and architects — not just behind a desk
– Solid working knowledge of IBC, IMC, IPC, IECC, and related codes
– Experience with business development, proposals, or client-facing work is a plus
Where You’re Going
This role has a path. We're looking for a mechanical engineer who wants to have a real voice in how AEG grows and what work we pursue. That's not the right fit for everyone. If it sounds like the right next step for you, reach out.
