11th Hour Hospice Volunteer
Constellation Health Services’ Hospice program is looking for volunteers to visit patients who have terminal illnesses. Make a difference in your community, be part of the hospice team, and have a flexible volunteer schedule. A few hours a week can make a big difference to someone nearing the end of life!
11th Hour Volunteer Position Description:

Caring presence for patients nearing death, including emotional support, spiritual support, and comfort measures
- Demonstrate understanding of the dying process and ability to provide compassion and support

Desire to support patients and families at the time when a patient is actively dying

At least 6 months of hospice experience

Comfortable with the death and dying process

Be a listener

Sit with patients overnight to provide respite to caregivers

Pray with patients as requested

Advocate for the patient as needed

Run errands, and make phone calls for caregivers who do not wish to leave the patient's bedside
- Minimum commitment of 1 year

Maintain an accurate record of hours
Requirements:

At least 18 years old.

Able to commit for one year to our program.

Able to commit to at least 4 hours per week.
- Ability to listen deeply, interest in and compassion for others, good boundaries and self-care, and meet people where they’re at in energy and tone.
- Online training takes approximately 20 hours and is personally enriching, focusing on personal death awareness and hospice philosophy.
