Erin Baker’s is an independent natural food company that has been baking in the Pacific Northwest since 1994. What started with Erin and a KitchenAid mixer has grown into a team developing, baking, and shipping cookies, granola, and snacks from our bakery in Bellingham, Washington to customers across the country.
We believe in doing things with integrity—from the ingredients we source and the food we make to how we treat our people and operate our business. We develop our own products and make them in our own facility, giving us the ability to innovate, move quickly, and stay close to what we create.
Being independent means, we compete differently. We must be curious, resourceful, and willing to challenge how things have always been done. We believe technology and AI can give companies like ours an entirely new level of capability—and we're looking for talented people who want to help us build what's next.
We're looking for an exceptional early-career candidate to help us do exactly that.
This role will work directly with company leadership to identify where AI, automation, and better use of data can meaningfully improve our business.
This is not an IT support position, and it is not a traditional finance role. It is a business problem-solving role.
What You'll Do
Your initial focus will be Finance, where significant amounts of information move between customer portals, our ERP, spreadsheets, email, and other systems.
You'll be expected to understand those processes deeply and then ask:
How should this work?
Projects may include:
- Automating accounts receivable, deductions, invoicing, and AP workflows
- Eliminating repetitive data entry
- Connecting systems and customer portals
- Developing AI agents to perform recurring business processes
- Building dashboards and exception-based reporting
- Improving the quality and speed of management information
- Identifying patterns and opportunities within company data
- Measuring the financial return from automation
Finance is the starting point, not the boundary.
Successful solutions will expand into inventory, purchasing, manufacturing, supply chain, sales, marketing, and other areas of the company.
The Person We're Looking For
We're looking for someone with unusual intellectual curiosity, initiative, and resourcefulness.
You should be someone who:
- Wants to understand how a business actually works
- Naturally questions inefficient processes
- Can move from an ambiguous problem to a practical solution
- Is highly comfortable with technology and data
- Uses AI as a serious problem-solving tool
- Learns new systems quickly
- Can communicate effectively with both technical and nontechnical people
- Tests assumptions rather than accepting them
- Understands that automation must be accurate, controlled, and measurable
- Takes ownership and finishes what they start
You do not need years of professional experience.
We are more interested in evidence that you have built things, solved difficult problems, or improved systems.
Relevant backgrounds may include Business Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Science, Industrial Engineering, Operations, Finance, Accounting, or related disciplines.
Experience with tools such as ChatGPT, AI agents, APIs, Python, SQL, Power BI, Power Automate, Power Query, or other automation platforms is valuable, but no particular technology stack is required.
You'll have access to real problems, real data, and company leadership. You'll be expected to challenge assumptions, develop solutions, implement them, and measure whether they worked.
For the right person, this role can grow well beyond its initial scope.
How We'll Measure Success
Success won't be measured by how many AI tools you use.
It will be measured by business results:
Hours eliminated. Processes improved. Errors reduced. Information made more useful. Decisions made faster. Opportunities identified. Dollars saved or created.
Pay: $45,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
Work Location: In person
