Position Summary:
This position is responsible for overseeing the financial accounting and reporting process for the Company’s financial statements prepared in accordance with U.S. GAAP and statutory accounting principles (SAP); filing all of the Company's reporting requirements (monthly, quarterly, annual) with the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) and federal and state insurance regulators (CMS, WVOIC, ODI, BMS); and manging the internal processes and controls supporting the financial statement close process and all reporting requirements. This position will be responsible for preparing and reviewing journal entries and account reconciliations. It will also be responsible for ad-hoc reporting and analysis requested by the Chief Financial Officer and other members of senior management. This position will also oversee the annual financial statement audit and the rate filing processes for the Company’s various lines of business.
Essential Job Functions:

Manages financial statement close process from beginning to end.

Prepares and reviews all monthly, quarterly, and annual internal and external financial reporting.

Timely filing and compliance with all statutory reporting requirements.

Manages all internal controls surrounding the financial statement close process.

Prepares and reviews journal entries and account reconciliations.

Ensures accuracy by analyzing current data, assessing risk factors and recognizing opportunities to increase effectiveness, optimize efficiency, implement standardization and meet business needs.

Manages and responds to requests from regulators, internal auditors, and external auditors.

Assists with rate filings for each line of business.

Assists with the preparation and management of the annual budget.

Manages direct and indirect reports.

Performs statutory accounting research as necessary.

Completes ad-hoc financial analysis and report.
Education/Experience:
-
Bachelor's degree in accounting.
-
10-15 years’ experience in accounting and financial reporting.

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Desired Skills/Abilities:

Previous experience in the health insurance industry.

Experience with Microsoft Great Plains and Management Reporter.
