Job Overview:
The SR. Manufacturing Engineer will apply technical knowledge and expertise in the development and/or implementation of new and improved manufacturing processes, procedures and equipment; and will ensure that the design specifications and procurement of equipment, tooling, fixtures, etc. meet company requirements and objectives.
The SR. Manufacturing Engineer will report to the Engineering Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Collaborate directly with customers to support product development through regular design reviews, production timeline alignment, tolerance analysis, and tooling requirements. Serve as a technical liaison to ensure manufacturing capabilities align with customer expectations and project goals.
Track and report on engineering targets (BOM cost, quality, customer and/or internal plant delivery timing, performance, project and department engineering budget, etc.) for all assigned projects.
Develop and maintain APQP documents (i.e. PFMEA, standard work procedures, process flow etc.)
Evaluate and implement emerging technologies – including automation, advanced fixturing, and process innovations – to enhance fabrication capabilities, improve efficiency, and support production requirements.
Lead equipment installation, commissioning, run-off, capability studies, and production validation activities.
Maintain comprehensive knowledge of product design methodologies and CAD software systems, while managing and updating technical drawings and nesting databases.
Develop, write, and maintain SOP’s, work instructions, and process documentation to support consistent production practices.
Train production staff on new processes, equipment, and safety procedures, serve as a technical resource on the shop floor.
Train and mentor junior Manufacturing Engineers, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
Analyze production data to identify trends and implement corrective actions.
Investigate manufacturing issues and non-conformances, using root cause analysis, data analysis, and corrective actions to resolve problems.
Design and implement changes to manufacturing processes that improve safety, quality, cost, and delivery (SQDC) performance.
Optimize material flow and presentation to operators, workflow and balance, and ergonomic standards
Maximizes efficiency by analyzing layout of equipment, workflow, assembly methods, and work force utilization.
Determines parts and tools needed to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specification.
Performs engineering design evaluations and works to complete projects within budget and scheduling restraints.
Lead and support Continuous improvement initiatives by applying Lean manufacturing principles to enhance plant productivity.
Lead cross-functional teams in Kaizen events and value stream mapping exercises, ensuring implementation of improvements and tracking progress against defined performance targets.
Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the fabrication field.
Ensures compliance to Company procedures (e.g. Process - Work Instructions) and applicable standards (e.g.).
Understanding of the concepts of synchronous manufacturing and lean production manufacturing methodologies and the ability to formulate and implement a tactical plan.
Monitor machine/employee ergonomic improvements & safety requirements.
Research and evaluate equipment or process improvements, obtain vendor quotations, and prepare capital expenditure justifications including return on investment (ROI) analysis.
Follows safe work procedures; and reports workplace hazards, injuries and illness as soon as possible following the event.
Uses appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE); and workplace tools as instructed
Comply with duties and responsibilities as per the Occupational Health and Safety Act and ensure corrective action is taken when violations occur.
Performs other duties as necessary for completion of projects and achievement of departmental goals in support of business objectives.
Ensures that facilities are in full compliance with all safety regulations.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
College Diploma or University Degree in the Manufacturing Engineering field
Requires a bachelor's degree and 5+ years of experience in the field or in a related area.
In depth knowledge of process improvement tools, product design techniques, mechanical drawing standards and GD&T
Prior experience with metal cutting, forming, welding (manual and robotic) and machining.
Knowledge of Lean techniques.
Ability to travel if required.
