This is an 11-month, school year position. This position does not work when school is closed during winter break, spring break, and during the summer months.
The salary range reflects the 11-month work schedule.

This position is responsible for dietary department set up for all meals, line preparation, dietary clean up, and documentation of product usage in accordance with prescribed procedures and applicable health and sanitation regulations and standards.
Operates the dish machine and performs related sanitation duties.
Assembles serving line and serves meals according to established scheduled daily menu using correct portion sizes and techniques.
Prep and assist cook/supervisor in meal preparation.
Clean and sanitizes work areas and equipment.
Including but not limits to mopping floors, wiping counters, sanitizing work surfaces, washing all dishes, cleaning up all messes, and etc.
Performs other related duties as required to maintain an efficient food service operation.
Participates in scheduled meeting and in service training to maintain knowledge pertinent to the job.
Reports all supply needs, malfunctioning equipment, unsafe conditions and questions regarding menus to Food Service Supervisor.
Must be willing to learn American Sign Language.
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

In accordance with AFSCME Article 44, all positions advertised as contractual are temporary assignments. Such assignments may include, but are not limited to, short-term grants, defined temporary projects lasting 24 months or less, emergency basis appointments for 12 months or less, retirees from State service, and positions less than fifty percent (50%) full-time equivalent (FTE).
Please note that all contractual agreements and staffing allocations are subject to adjustment based on student enrollment and operational needs.
Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
Leave may be granted to a contractual employee at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
