SUMMARY: The Academic Intervention Teacher provides engaging instruction to support the academic, social and emotional growth of each student in alignment with the Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools mission and the Ohio Learning Standards. This position fosters a safe, inclusive and supportive classroom environment that promotes student success through collaboration, differentiation and restorative practices.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Demonstrates sound judgement and emotional stability.Maintains a positive attitude and works well with others.Ensures the safety of students.Interacts with staff, students and the community in a positive and respectful manner.Plans and delivers engaging instruction aligned with Ohio Learning Standards and district curriculum.Utilizes data to inform instruction and differentiate learning experiences for diverse student needs.Creates a safe and respectful community where all students interests, identities and affinities are honored and valued.Models empathy and compassion for all.Implements restorative practices and proactive classroom management strategies.Problem solves and thinks critically, flexibly and creatively to facilitate learning and support students.Collaborates with colleagues, administrators and families to support student growth.Maintains curiosity and continuously seeks knowledge and understanding through ongoing professional learning.Adheres to the Ohio Standards for the Teaching Profession.Understands and implements strategies to meet district goals.Integrates technology and innovative instructional strategies to enhance learning.Maintains accurate records of student progress and attendance, and communicates effectively with families.Contributes to and implements student learning plans such as Individual Education Plans, Behavior Intervention Plans and plans developed through Multi-tiered Systems of Support.Upholds all district policies, procedures and ethical standards.Attends staff meetings, professional development and school-sponsored activities, as required.Maintains the appropriate licensure for the assigned position.Other duties as assigned by supervisor.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises students.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Minimum of Bachelors Degree in Education.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid Ohio Teaching Certificate or License in the required grade level(s) and/or content area(s).Clear BCI/FBI background checks in accordance with Ohio law.
