Overview
We are seeking a skilled Furnace Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating and monitoring furnace systems to ensure optimal performance and product quality. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical processes, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Operate industrial furnaces for heat treating steel and aluminum parts, including annealing, hardening, tempering, and solution treating processes.
- Load and unload materials into furnaces using hoists, forklifts, or manual handling, ensuring proper placement and securing of parts.
- Monitor furnace temperatures, cycles, and atmospheres (e.g., nitrogen, argon, or vacuum) using control panels and instrumentation to maintain specified parameters.
- Adjust furnace settings as needed based on work orders, material types, and heat treatment recipes.
- Perform routine visual inspections and quality checks on treated components to ensure conformance to metallurgical standards and customer requirements.
- Record operational data, including temperature logs, cycle times, and batch details, for traceability and reporting purposes.
- Conduct basic maintenance and troubleshooting of furnaces, such as cleaning, calibrating thermocouples, and reporting malfunctions to maintenance staff.
- Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and handling of high-temperature materials.
- Collaborate with team members to prioritize workloads and meet production deadlines.
- Assist in preparing parts for heat treatment, such as cleaning or masking surfaces, when required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in metallurgy, manufacturing, or a related field is a plus.
- Previous experience as a furnace operator or in a manufacturing environment (preferably heat treatment) is preferred.
- Knowledge of steel and aluminum properties and common heat treatment processes (e.g., quenching, normalizing, aging).
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Familiarity with furnace control systems and basic computer skills for data entry.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50LBs and stand for extended periods in a high-temperature environment.
- Forklift certification or willingness to obtain one is an asset.
- Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
Working Conditions:
- The role involves working in a hot, industrial environment with exposure to high temperatures, noise, and heavy machinery.
- Shift work, including nights and weekends, may be required based on production needs.

Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
