Job Description: Ancillary Technician
Company: Front Line Inspection Services
Location: Northeast Ohio (Field-Based)
Reports To: Operations Manager
Compensation: $20.00 ‒ $23.00 per hour (starting range, based on experience) + production bonus, paid biweekly
Position Type: Full-Time, Hourly
Role Overview
Front Line Inspection Services is a premier property inspection firm serving Northeast Ohio. We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented, and mechanically inclined Ancillary Technician to join our field team. The Ancillary Technician plays a critical role in supporting our core inspection operations by performing specialized environmental, mechanical, and pest-related assessments.
This role is designed to handle vital field logistics and specific technical services, allowing our senior inspectors to focus on full property evaluations. You will be the face of Front Line in many client interactions, requiring a professional demeanor, strong communication skills, and a commitment to our high standards of quality. The Ancillary Technician reports directly to the Operations Manager and is expected to maintain active communication with the office team throughout each workday.
Key Responsibilities
The Ancillary Technician is responsible for executing a variety of specialized field tasks that support our broader inspection services. A primary duty involves managing radon logistics, which includes the precise placement, retrieval, and data downloading of continuous radon monitors at both residential and commercial properties. Additionally, the technician will operate specialized camera equipment to conduct sewer scope inspections, identifying blockages or damage in lateral lines and recording video for client reports.
Environmental testing is another core component of the role. The technician will conduct indoor air quality sampling and surface mold testing, strictly adhering to established chainof-custody protocols. The technician will also perform Wood-Destroying Insect
(WDI/termite) inspections in accordance with state requirements and company standards. Field support duties extend to assisting senior inspectors with well flow testing, water quality sampling, and septic system evaluations, as well as providing general field assistance during large commercial Property Condition Assessments (PCAs).
The role requires meticulous documentation. The technician must accurately record findings, upload media, and complete digital reports within required timeframes. All assigned technical equipment must be properly cleaned, calibrated, and maintained. The technician is also expected to actively participate in team meetings, KPI reviews, and assist in training other team members as the role develops.
Training and Certifications Provided
Front Line is committed to your professional development. All necessary training and certifications will be provided post-hire.
Qualifications and Requirements
We are looking for candidates who possess a high school diploma or equivalent and hold a valid Ohio driver's license with a clean driving record. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, comfortable working with small tools, and adept at operating technical equipment. Proficiency with technology, including smartphones, tablets, and reporting software, is essential for daily operations.
The role requires physical capability, as technicians must navigate various property environments, including climbing stairs, entering crawlspaces, and lifting up to 50 lbs. We expect our technicians to be punctual, self-motivated, and capable of working independently in the field. Because you will interact directly with clients and real estate professionals, excellent communication skills and a customer-first attitude are mandatory.
Compensation and Benefits
The starting hourly rate is $20.00 ‒ $23.00, commensurate with experience, paid biweekly. In addition to the base hourly rate, the Ancillary Technician is eligible for a production bonus tied to completed service volume, rewarding efficiency and reliability in the field.
All new hires undergo a 90-day probationary and training period. During this time, you will be evaluated on your mastery of the training material, your reliability in the field, and your adherence to company standards. Upon successful completion of the 90-day probationary period, you will be issued a Front Line company vehicle for field use. Exceptional performance in this role provides a clear pathway to increased compensation and advancement within the growing Front Line organization.
