We are currently seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher – Moderate Cognitive Impairment (MoCI) to join a school-based team in Michigan. This position offers the opportunity to work with a small caseload of students while providing individualized instruction and support that promotes academic, social, and functional success.
Responsibilities

Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) aligned with student goals and educational needs.

Provide differentiated instruction tailored to each student's learning profile and abilities.

Collect, analyze, and document progress monitoring data to support student growth and compliance requirements.

Collaborate with related service providers, paraprofessionals, administrators, and families to ensure comprehensive student support.

Maintain compliance with IDEA, Michigan special education regulations, and district requirements.

Foster a structured, positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment that promotes student engagement and independence.

Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and multidisciplinary team meetings as required.

Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies to support students with moderate cognitive impairments.
Qualifications
Required
-
Valid Michigan Special Education Teaching Certificate and Cognitive Impairment (SA or CI) Endorsement required.

Possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
- Ability to meet all Michigan Department of Education certification and employment requirements.

Strong communication, collaboration, organizational, and classroom management skills.
Preferred
-
Previous experience working with students with cognitive impairments.

Experience developing and implementing IEPs.

Familiarity with progress monitoring tools and special education compliance procedures.
