Heavy-Duty & Light-Duty Alignment Mechanic

Full-Time Position
Watkins Spring Company is looking for an experienced and dependable Alignment Mechanic to join our team. This position will perform wheel alignments and related suspension and steering repairs on both heavy-duty commercial vehicles and light-duty trucks and vehicles.
The ideal candidate has strong diagnostic skills, takes pride in doing the job correctly, and is comfortable working on a wide range of vehicles. A valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is required for this position.
Responsibilities
- Perform wheel alignments on heavy-duty trucks, commercial vehicles, trailers, light-duty trucks, and passenger vehicles
- Inspect steering, suspension, tires, and related components before performing alignments
- Diagnose uneven tire wear, pulling, vibration, handling, and steering concerns
- Make necessary alignment adjustments according to manufacturer specifications
- Identify worn or damaged steering and suspension components
- Replace tie rods, drag links, ball joints, kingpins, bushings, wheel bearings, shocks, and other related components
- Road-test vehicles before and after repairs when necessary
- Safely operate customer vehicles, including commercial vehicles requiring a CDL
- Properly use alignment equipment, lifts, jacks, hand tools, and power tools
- Clearly communicate additional repair needs to the service manager
- Complete repairs accurately and efficiently while maintaining Watkins Spring’s quality standards
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Follow all company procedures and workplace safety requirements
Qualifications
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License required
- Previous wheel alignment experience required
- Experience aligning both heavy-duty and light-duty vehicles strongly preferred
- Knowledge of steering, suspension, tire wear, and vehicle handling systems
- Strong mechanical and diagnostic abilities
- Ability to read and understand alignment measurements and specifications
- Experience using computerized alignment equipment preferred
- Ability to safely operate manual and automatic transmission vehicles
- Must be dependable, punctual, and able to work well with others
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, bending, standing, and working underneath vehicles
- Must have a clean and responsible driving record
- Welding, fabrication, suspension, and heavy-duty repair experience are a plus
