Under the direct supervision of the physician(s) in the clinic, the Certified Medical Assistant assists in the delivery of primary health care and patient case management. The Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting the physician in clinical and administrative functions.
Education :
- Required: High School or GED and a Vocational/Technical Diploma from a medical assistant program.
- Preferred: Associate degree or one-year postsecondary education in medical field
License or Certification :
Required:
- Valid and current medical assistant certification from an accredited program (AAMA, AMT, NCCT, CCMA)
Experience :
- Required: No requirement
- Preferred: 1 year as a medical assistant working under physician supervision in a medical office or clinic setting.
Knowledge :
- Knowledge of infection control and hygiene
- Basic understanding of computer operations and keyboarding, including electronic medical records

- Good oral and written communication skills

- Ability to interpret physicians order and carry them out as requested

Work Environment :
Work is generally performed in a healthcare environment. Exposure to chemicals which may be used in patient care.
Physical Demands :
Ability to lift, push, pull and position patients or equipment. Frequent reaching, sitting walking, and standing may be required. No special coordination beyond that used for normal mobility and handling or everyday objects and materials is needed to perform the job.
