Position Overview
We're looking for a ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM) Implementation Specialist to support a client engagement delivering an “SPM Light” implementation — replacing a legacy SharePoint-based intake process with a structured ServiceNow SPM solution built around the Idea module, SDL gate sub-tasks, and ARB/SRB/CAB approval workflows.This role blends hands-on ServiceNow configuration expertise with the discipline of formal project management. You'll help translate client requirements into scalable SPM configurations while supporting sprint-level delivery, stakeholder communication, and testing/handoff activities.Key Responsibilities
- Support configuration of the ServiceNow Idea module as the master intake record, replacing a legacy SharePoint-based intake process
- Build out conditional SDL gate sub-tasks (e.g., Analysis of Alternatives, POC/POV, Cyber/FIPS compliance checklist, ARB/SRB approval, CAB approval, As-Built validation) hanging off the master Idea record
- Configure OOTB ARB (Architecture Review Board) and SRB (Solution Review Board) workflows, including client-specific routing and approval logic
- Implement T-shirt sizing routing logic (e.g., XS/S → Story/Agile backlog, M → Epic/Demand, L/XL → Demand/Project)
- Configure role-based views (Idea Submitter, Idea Manager, Reviewer) with appropriate field visibility per role
- Support light configuration of Demand, Project, and Strategic Planning Workspace (Portfolios/Programs) modules as needed
- Build Service Portal intake forms and lightweight triage workspace views
- Configure traceability/reference fields (e.g., links to Jira/ADO, audit chain fields) — no native integration required
- Support unit testing, end-to-end UAT, and defect resolution in a non-production environment
- Contribute to final handoff documentation: process architecture summary, role configuration guide, SDL gate reference
- Provide regular status updates and coordinate with the engagement's Process Architect and client stakeholders within a sprint-based delivery cadence
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience as a Project Manager, managing cross-functional projects from initiation through delivery
- Hands-on experience implementing ServiceNow's SPM (Strategic Portfolio Management) product suite, including at least one full-cycle implementation (Idea, Demand, Project, Agile, or Enterprise Architecture/APM modules)
- Comfort working within a “SPM Light” / phased maturity approach — configuring for simplicity now, with an eye toward future scalability
- Strong understanding of approval-gate and governance workflows (e.g., ARB/SRB/CAB-style review boards)
- Experience gathering business requirements and translating them into functional/technical configuration specs
- Familiarity with ServiceNow platform fundamentals: workflows, business rules, ACLs, UI policies
- Excellent client-facing communication skills — comfortable presenting to both technical teams and business stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- ServiceNow certifications: Certified Implementation Specialist – SPM, CSA (Certified System Administrator), or CIS in related modules
- PMP, CAPM, or equivalent project management certification
- Prior experience working within a consulting or professional services environment
- Background working with enterprise clients in telecom, technology, or similarly complex organizations
- Experience configuring Service Portal intake forms
