We are a growing general contractor specializing in hotel and multifamily renovations nationwide. Our work includes brand-driven renovations, capital improvement programs (PIPs), and occupied renovation projects. We pride ourselves on strong client relationships, accurate budgeting, and smooth handoffs from preconstruction to operations.
As we continue to grow, we are seeking a Chief Estimator to lead our estimating team, own the preconstruction process, and serve as a key strategic partner to leadership, business development, and operations.
The Director of Preconstruction / Chief Estimator is responsible for overseeing all estimating and preconstruction activities, ensuring accurate, timely, and competitive project budgets. This role leads the estimating team, collaborates closely with Business Development and Operations, and interfaces directly with owners, asset managers, architects, and brand representatives.
This is a leadership role requiring both hands-on estimating experience and team management capability.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and manage the estimating and preconstruction team
- Establish estimating standards, procedures, and best practices
- Assign workloads, manage deadlines, and ensure accountability
- Participate in hiring, training, and performance development of estimators
Preconstruction & Estimating
- Oversee preparation of conceptual, budgetary, and hard-bid estimates
- Review drawings, specifications, PIPs, room matrices, and scopes of work
- Develop accurate project budgets, cost models, and value-engineering options
- Ensure estimates reflect current market pricing, labor, and material trends
- Review and finalize bid submissions prior to client delivery
Client & Business Development Support
- Act as a client-facing leader during preconstruction and proposal phases
- Support Business Development by providing preliminary budgets and feasibility input
- Participate in client meetings, scope reviews, and budget presentations
- Assist in proposal narratives, scope clarifications, and bid leveling
Collaboration & Handoff
- Coordinate with Operations to ensure clean handoff from preconstruction to project execution
- Assist with buyout strategy and subcontractor selection when needed
- Identify project risks, assumptions, and exclusions early in the process
Systems & Process Improvement
- Improve estimating tools, templates, and workflows
- Maintain subcontractor and vendor pricing databases
- Track historical cost data and post-project cost feedback
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
