The Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences, School of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences, Texas A&M University invites applications for two full-time, non-tenure-track Clinical Assistant or Associate Professor positions in small animal primary care medicine on an 11-month appointment, with an anticipated start date of Fall 2026.
The client and patient population of the Primary Care service is varied, so utilizing a Spectrum of Care approach is a part of each case and an important part of student learning. The Primary Care Service hosts a mandatory 4-week rotation in wellness, general, and preventive care. The Primary Care Service utilizes general VMTH resources including digital radiography suites equipped with PACS image storage, and on-site clinical pathology, clinical microbiology and the TAMU GI lab. The successful candidate must possess a strong commitment to excellence in patient care, service to clients, and clinical teaching, as well as strong leadership and communications skills. The successful candidate will join a team of primary care clinicians and technicians and will work with over 50 faculty members in the small animal hospital, 55 interns and residents in the other medical and surgical services in the department, and approximately 180 senior veterinary students. The time commitment will be approximately 75% to clinical instruction and patient care in the hospital. Time not assigned to clinical instruction and patient care on clinical rotations will be devoted to classroom / laboratory teaching (10%), scholarship (5%), and service (10%). Faculty are expected to uphold the VMBS Code of Professional Conduct.
The Primary Care Service is staffed with a team of four full-time clinicians, one part-time clinician, and seven technicians and is actively involved in improving access to care to underserved populations, both locally and in more rural areas. There are several outreach programs overseen and managed by the Primary Care Service, as well as an active telehealth program to provide care to our clients and patients who may not be able to be seen in-person.
