Job Description: Nurse Manager
Overview
The Nurse Manager for the Specialty Division is responsible for the administrative management of nursing operations. This role involves planning activities and managing financials to support the profitability and cost-effectiveness of nursing services. The Nurse Manager will organize, administer, and supervise health services, ensuring a comprehensive quality management program for all aspects of patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and schedule the activities of the nursing department for assigned specialties to ensure patient care needs are met.
- Ensure compliance with company standards, federal and state regulations, accreditation standards, and agency policies.
- Supervise and evaluate nursing personnel who provide administrative support and direct patient care, handling human resources issues such as recruitment, performance evaluations, discipline, and terminations.
- Collect and organize approved patient referrals, review patient-specific information, and assess suitability for home care per Option Care policies. Provide continuing education to healthcare providers on home care infusion-related issues.
- Manage daily operations, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and accreditation entities. Monitor medical supply usage and participate in the reporting of operational and financial data to the executive team.
- Communicate effectively with team members during the intake process for new referrals, escalating issues when necessary.
- Develop and implement continuing education and orientation programs, supporting the development and implementation of patient care plans.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Yes: This position has supervisory responsibilities, including hiring, promotions, scheduling, performance reviews, and discipline.
Basic Education and Experience Requirements
- Registered Nurse with an active, unrestricted license in the current state of practice.
- At least 4 years of experience in home health/infusion care, or 2 years of nursing supervisory/managerial experience in a home care setting.
- At least 2 years of experience managing departmental budgets.
Basic Qualifications
- Competency in clinical management of home infusion patients, including knowledge of the nursing process and documentation/billing requirements.
- Ability to guide, counsel, and evaluate staff on performance and decision-making, ensuring corrective action is taken as needed.
- Strong time management skills, with experience handling multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Travel Requirements
- Willing to travel approximately 30% of the time.
Preferred Qualifications
- BSN with CRNI or other professional certification.
- At least 4 years of management experience in a home health care setting.
- Familiarity with federal, state, and local regulations governing home health agencies.
