Overview
Wilsenergy is a custom HVAC fabrication and OEM manufacturer in Temecula, building pipe skids, modular mechanical systems, and modified equipment for commercial and industrial projects. Every job is primarily engineered to order, so purchasing here is not primarily stock replenishment. It is fast, varied, and directly tied to whether jobs ship on time.
The Purchasing Agent owns procurement for active sales orders. Working from engineered BOMs and production due dates, you source, negotiate, place, and expedite everything the shop needs, from sheet metal and coils to pipe, valves, fittings, compressors, electrical components, and controls. You work closely with engineering, production supervisors, and the parts room, and you are the primary point of contact for our vendor base. This is a role with real ownership of the function, not a narrow slice of it.
Duties
- Review released BOMs and sales orders, identify buy items, and issue purchase orders in our ERP (Fulcrum)
- Request and compare quotes, negotiate pricing, and drive cost reduction across recurring commodity spend
- Manage lead times against production schedules and escalate early when a ship date is at risk
- Expedite open POs and maintain accurate promise dates so scheduling and production can plan around them
- Resolve receiving discrepancies, shortages, damaged freight, and vendor invoice or pricing issues
- Coordinate inbound freight, including LTL and flatbed for large fabricated assemblies
- Set up new vendors and accounts, and develop backup sources for critical or single-sourced items
- Maintain accurate part records, vendor data, and pricing in the ERP
- Support inventory accuracy and min/max levels on stocked consumables and hardware
- Participate in job release and production planning meetings to flag long-lead items early
Requirements
- 3+ years of purchasing, buying, or procurement experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, or construction environment
- Ability to read and work from a bill of materials, with working familiarity of mechanical, sheet metal, piping, or electrical components
- Hands-on ERP or MRP experience (Fulcrum or similar)
- Organized under pressure, with the follow-through to chase a late part until it is resolved
- Clear, direct communicator with vendors and internal teams
- High school diploma required; degree in supply chain, business, or a technical field preferred
Preferred
- HVAC, sheet metal, or mechanical contracting background
- Experience buying for engineered-to-order or custom, low-volume production
