Job purpose
The Converting Press Operator is a highly skilled technical role responsible for the end-to-end precision manufacturing of RFID labels and specialized converted products. This position requires a blend of mechanical aptitude, digital programming, and meticulous quality control to transform raw substrates into high-quality RFID labels.
The operator will manage the full lifecycle of a production run—from initial machine configuration and tooling installation to real-time troubleshooting and final inventory logging. You will be the primary guardian of product integrity, ensuring "perfect registration" of RFID inlays while aggressively minimizing material waste and maintaining a safe, efficient workspace.
Duties and responsibilities
DIGITAL PRINT OPERATOR
- Machine Setup & Operation: Configure the converting press for specific job runs, including loading raw materials, glue, & dies.
- Program and prepare jobs for converting.
- Maintain daily print job production logs and daily delivery manifests.
- Monitor quality of job output for correctness.
- Order supplies chemical solutions, rollers, substrates, and other items as needed
- Maintain inventory levels within WIP warehouse.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to read and interpret documents to include job tickets, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals and diagrams
- Must be quality and time conscious.
- Must be self-motivated and self-sufficient.
- Precision Alignment:
- Ensure perfect registration between the base material and the RFID inlay to guarantee accurate chip placement within each label.
- Quality Inspection:
- Monitor the production run for physical defects and electronic failures. Place flag in rolls to mark defective labels.
- Tooling Management:
- Install and adjust rotary dies, flexible dies, and slitting blades to meet exact dimensional specifications.
- Waste Reduction:
- Optimize the startup process to minimize scrap of expensive raw materials and RFID components.
- Troubleshooting:
- Identify and resolve mechanical issues or tension imbalances in real-time to maintain consistent output.
- Operational Efficiency:
- Managing resources to ensure on-time delivery; identifying and suggesting workflow improvements.
- Collaboration:
- Maintaining a positive, respectful attitude while working closely with the Logistics, Quality Control, and Maintenance department.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Printing/manufacturing background required
- Trade school and/or manufacturing certifications a plus
- Knowledge of RFID technology and label printing is a plus.
- Able to set up, operate, and adjust the equipment, and in addition, diagnose, solve, and correct operating problems affecting the quality and timeliness of the service or product or function
- Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to build relationships with team, superiors and external partners
- Demonstrate proactive and creative approaches to problem-solving

Working conditions/travel
This position is an In-Factory working position.
Hours
This is a 2nd Shift hourly Full-time position requiring 40+ hours per week.
Shift Differential
2nd Shift differential in addition to the base hourly starting pay rate is $1.50/hour, while working the 2nd shift schedule.
Rate of Pay
The starting base rate for this position is based on experience.
