Job Summary
High Plains Biochar is developing a new generation of sustainable coffee roasters!
This is a very unique position for someone who will be working directly with the owner on a project that is going to disrupt the coffee roasting industry. The owner is a very well known biochar stove technology designer including a patented technology in the United States, with more than 60 stoves sold in 4 different countries, 7 stoves in use at Universities, and more than 1,000 stoves licensed in Africa alone with others in Columbia, Mexico, India and Guam. This job may evolve into being a Chief Technology Officer with equity options as the project scales so ambition and the ability to take on responsibility are a good fit for this position.
This person needs to be hands-on at times and have a wide range of knowledge normally found with fabricating and repairing industrial equipment, a mechanical engineering degree is helpful but a degree is not required for this position.
This position is also unique because we only work 8 A.M.-2 P.M. Mon-Fri so you are home early every day. 10 days per year of paid time off after 60 day probation period.
Responsibilities/ Requirements
- Using Fusion360 3D - CAD models and 2D software to build plans for machinery. Experience with this software or similar software is REQUIRED.
- Work with metal fabricators to have parts built in house and with 3rd party vendors
- Finding and ordering parts for equipment like generators, electronic parts, pipe filters, etc.
- Working with electrical engineers to design and build electrical control systems, typically we use the CSU Rapid Prototyping Lab or a group out of Italy
- Troubleshooting issues during assembly and being able to find solutions
- Problem solving is a key skill due to prototype and testing equipment
- The ability to work and stay organized on your own without supervision
- Helping to manage projects
- Working with a wide variety of people including those in foreign counties
Experience or understanding of metal fabrication, AC/DC electronics, electronic controls, gearmotors, augers, data collection, project management, and a love of coffee are helpful. Willingness to understand the voluntary carbon market and how carbon credits are generated using biochar. Laid back small office atmosphere.
Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
