Job Summary
We are seeking an organized, capable Production Operations Supervisor to lead day-to-day operations in a light manufacturing environment. This role directs production staff, coordinates workflow, monitors performance, and ensures production goals are met safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
The ideal candidate is a strong people leader who can set priorities, delegate responsibilities, make decisions, and hold team members accountable. You should be comfortable using computer-based systems to plan work, track production, communicate updates, and solve operational problems.
This is a leadership and coordination role, not a maintenance, CDL, or skilled-trades position. Success requires strong judgment, organization, communication, computer proficiency, and the ability to direct a team while keeping daily production moving.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and coordinate the daily activities of production employees
- Assign work, establish priorities, and delegate responsibilities based on production requirements
- Monitor production schedules, workflow, staffing, output, and quality to ensure daily goals are achieved
- Provide clear direction, coaching, feedback, and accountability to team members
- Use computer-based systems to track production, review information, communicate updates, and maintain accurate records
- Identify bottlenecks, workflow issues, and opportunities to improve efficiency
- Coordinate staffing and resources based on workload and production priorities
- Support employee training and development
- Participate in continuous improvement and process improvement initiatives
- Assist with production projects from planning through completion
- Collaborate with operations, sales, supply chain, and other departments to meet customer demand
- Communicate production status, challenges, and priorities to management
Qualifications & Skills
- Previous experience supervising, leading, or directing a team in manufacturing, production, assembly, distribution, or a similar operational environment
- Demonstrated ability to delegate work, set expectations, and hold employees accountable
- Strong organizational, planning, prioritization, and follow-through skills
- Good computer skills and the ability to learn production, inventory, scheduling, and business software
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to analyze information, identify problems, and make sound decisions
- Comfort working with production data, schedules, reports, and performance metrics
- Experience with process improvement, workflow optimization, or efficiency initiatives
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Project management or project coordination experience is a plus
