Job Summary:
The Process Engineer I is responsible for interpreting and implementing project specifications and generating all required technical documentation for the assigned project. This role primarily involves developing, validating, or establishing manufacturing processes and/or performance design improvements & controls. This includes identifying, diagnosing, & correcting manufacturing problems; generating specifications for production components; establishing work & product flows; generating O&M manuals; providing guidance to the design team on required fixtures; creating PFDs, Bills of Materials, and other responsibilities as specified for each project. This role requires strong interpersonal and organizational skills, will act as a bridge between R&D Engineering and Production, and must be comfortable managing multiple project assignments simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process Design and Optimization: Develop and optimize manufacturing processes to improve efficiency and productivity. Design and implement process modifications to reduce costs and enhance quality.
- Data Analysis: Analyze production data to identify areas for improvement and implement data-driven solutions. Utilize statistical methods to monitor and control processes.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance overall process performance. Collaborate with production teams to implement best practices.
- Quality Assurance: Work closely with quality engineers to ensure that processes meet or exceed quality standards. Implement measures to prevent and address production defects.
- Cost Reduction: Identify opportunities for cost reduction in production processes without compromising quality. Collaborate with procurement and suppliers to optimize material costs.
- Equipment and Technology: Evaluate and recommend new equipment or technologies to improve manufacturing processes. Coordinate the installation and commissioning of new machinery.
- Risk Assessment: Conduct risk assessments on existing and proposed processes to identify potential issues. Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies.
- Documentation: Prepare and maintain detailed documentation of process designs, modifications, and improvements. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Training: Provide training to production teams on new processes and modifications. Develop training materials to support process changes.
- Environmental, Health, and Safety: Ensure that processes comply with environmental, health, and safety regulations. Implement measures to enhance workplace safety.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
What You Bring to United Precision Corporation:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing / Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
- 4+ years of experience in engineering with a focus on a specific discipline
- Well-organized, with exceptional attention to detail, the ability to prioritize tasks, and escalate when needed
- Demonstrated ability and desire to work and excel in a small, growing, and fast-paced company environment
- Ability to self-manage projects and initiatives
Preferred
- Prior experience within the aerospace and/or defense industries
- Lean manufacturing training
- Knowledge of ERP systems, preferably SAP
- Six Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing Principles Certification

Working Conditions:
Work is generally performed in an office/warehouse environment, with frequent interruptions and irregular work schedules. No special coordination beyond that used for normal mobility, handling of everyday objects and materials, and use of office equipment is necessary to perform the job satisfactorily.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,640.00 – $100,800.00 per year, DOE.
