About the Role
We are seeking a meticulous and innovative Equipment Design Engineer to contribute to the design, development, and enhancement of automated production equipment. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in hydraulic and pneumatic systems, fixture design, and tooling to optimize manufacturing processes and ensure the highest standards of quality and efficiency. Your contributions will directly impact our ability to meet production goals and maintain a safe working environment.
Responsibilities
- Spearhead the design and fabrication of specialized production equipment, including automated and semi-automated assembly machines, with a focus on material selection and tooling specifications.
- Analyze existing mechanical, electromechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to identify opportunities for improvement in yield, throughput, and overall performance.
- Design and develop precision mechanical/electromechanical fixtures and machines, ensuring adherence to stringent customer requirements and industry best practices.
- Collaborate closely with Quality and Process Engineers to define detailed scopes for the procurement of new equipment, ensuring alignment with production, quality, and safety objectives.
- Uphold system and product quality by meticulously verifying fabrication, assembly, and installation processes, identifying and resolving any deviations from specifications.
- Maintain equipment functionality by coordinating maintenance and repair services, adhering to manufacturer's guidelines and established procedures, and promptly addressing any equipment malfunctions.
- Provide support to maintenance personnel in troubleshooting and repairing production equipment, offering technical expertise and guidance to resolve complex issues.
- Estimate tooling costs accurately from initial design through fabrication, providing valuable insights for project budgeting and resource allocation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and 5 years of relevant work experience, or 15 years of equivalent experience in a similar role.
- Proficiency in advanced 3D design software and techniques.
- Comprehensive knowledge of hydraulic systems, drawings, and schematics.
- In-depth understanding of pneumatic systems, drawings, and schematics.
- Ability to interpret a wide range of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic drawings with precision.
- Experience in designing and maintaining automated assembly machines.
- Familiarity with basic PLC code and its application in automated systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, Project, and Outlook.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely and successful outcomes.
