Position Summary
The Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice features a large undergraduate program, a graduate program, a research institute (CJPRI), active engagement with community partners, and ongoing collaborations with units within the College of Urban and Public Affairs and the university.
This position has a key function in the day-to-day operations of the department. This position includes administrative work; record processing and technical work; providing information and assistance to faculty, staff, students and the broader community; assisting with business functions of the department; and performing general receptionist duties.
This is a service focused position that is on-campus, in office, Monday to Friday – 8:30am to 5pm; with a 30 minute unpaid lunch.
Minimum Qualifications from Classification
Two years of general clerical experience. One year of which included typing, word processing, or other experience generating documents; OR
An Associate’s degree in Office Occupations or Office Technology; OR
Graduation from a private school of business with a Certificate in Office Occupations or Office Technology AND one year of general clerical experience.
Note:
College courses in Office Occupations or Office Technology will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Additional Minimum Qualifications for this Position
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Successful completion of a background check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in higher education, especially PSU.
- Working knowledge of Banner, Cognos, Drupal, Google suite.
- Demonstrated experience working with confidential information.
- Demonstrated experience working in a busy, professional office setting.
- Demonstrated success working in a collaborative team environment.
- Ability to self-manage multiple timelines and priorities.

Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement
The starting salary rate for this position will be between $19.36 and $21.91 an hour. The starting rate may be negotiable above this range, however it will be dependent upon the knowledge, experience, skills and abilities of the chosen candidate, the budget of the hiring department, and approval from HR.
