Prepress Operator
About the Role
Superior Print, a business forms printing company, is looking for an experienced Prepress Operator. You'll prepare customer artwork for production, handling layout, file setup, and plate output for our offset presses and digital copiers. This is a hands-on production role for someone who knows their way around Adobe Creative Suite and understands what it takes to get a job press-ready.
Responsibilities
- Create and edit artwork for business forms, brochures, flyers, and other commercial print products
- Set up and impose artwork for production, with an emphasis on layout accuracy and proper plate setups
- Output plates for offset printing presses
- Prepare and send files to digital copiers/presses
- Preflight customer-supplied files: check resolution, bleeds, fonts, and color, and fix problems before they reach the pressroom
- Proof jobs and route them for customer or internal approval
- Work with press operators and customer service to keep jobs moving on schedule
Requirements
- Adobe Creative Suite experience is a MUST, with heavy use of InDesign.
- Solid understanding of prepress fundamentals: imposition, trapping, bleeds, color separation, and plate setup
- Experience preparing files for offset presses
- Strong attention to detail and ability to catch file problems before they become press problems
- Ability to manage multiple jobs and deadlines in a production environment
Nice to Have
- Experience running digital copiers/digital presses
- Familiarity with Harlequin RIP/workflow software
- Prior experience with business forms or commercial printing
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
