Our events program includes farmers markets, festivals, community events, and other pet-friendly gatherings throughout the Charlotte area. We're looking for energetic, outgoing team members who enjoy talking with people, working independently, and representing a local small business.
Summary
We are seeking a Weekend Farmers Market & Events Sales Associate to join our team at Pet Wants: The Urban Feed Store! This role is responsible for representing Pet Wants at farmers markets, festivals, and community events while providing exceptional customer service, educating pet parents about nutrition, and driving sales. Team members will also be responsible for event setup and teardown, transporting products and equipment using company vehicles, and assisting with our Pet Wants Food Truck at select events.
Responsibilities
- Provide outstanding customer service and create a welcoming experience for event attendees.
- Educate customers on pet nutrition and recommend products based on their pets' individual needs.
- Promote Pet Wants products, including fresh dog food, treats, chews, supplements, and house-made items.
- Process sales accurately using our point-of-sale system.
- Load, unload, transport, set up, and break down event equipment, tents, tables, displays, and inventory.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and fully stocked event space throughout each event.
- Engage proactively with customers and confidently start conversations with passersby.
- Represent the Pet Wants brand in a positive, professional, and enthusiastic manner.
- Assist with inventory preparation and event organization before and after events.
- Driving company vehicles to and from events.
- Complete company-provided training to operate and drive the Pet Wants Food Truck for select local events.
Requirements
- Retail, sales, customer service, hospitality, or event experience preferred.
- Strong communication skills and a passion for helping people and their pets.
- Comfortable initiating conversations and interacting with a high volume of customers.
- Ability to work independently and stay productive in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid driver's license required. Clean driving record preferred
- Reliable transportation and punctuality are required.
- Ability to lift 40+ lbs repeatedly and assist with event setup and teardown.
- Ability to stand and walk for 5–8+ hours.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Weekend availability is required.
