Duties
- Prepare a variety of pasta dishes according to established recipes and menu specifications, ensuring consistency and quality in every plate
- Cook pasta to the correct texture and doneness, maintaining optimal food safety standards throughout food handling and preparation processes
- Understand how the emulsification process works between starches, acids and fats
- Assist with menu planning by suggesting new pasta recipes or improvements based on customer preferences and seasonal ingredients
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pasta station, including proper storage of ingredients and utensils
- Follow all food safety protocols, including proper knife skills, sanitation procedures, and allergen awareness during meal preparation
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely delivery of orders while maintaining high standards of food presentation
- Support catering events or special functions by preparing large quantities of pasta dishes with precision and efficiency
Qualifications
- Previous experience working in a restaurant or food industry setting, particularly with pasta or Italian cuisine preferred
- Strong culinary experience with a focus on food preparation, cooking techniques, and food handling safety
- Knowledge of dietary department practices and dietary aide experience is a plus
- Skilled in knife techniques, meal preparation, and portion control to ensure consistency across dishes
- Experience with fine dining service or catering environments is advantageous
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
