Job Summary
Inly School is seeking Bus Monitors for the 2026-2027 academic year. A bus monitor plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of students during their bus rides to and from school. The primary responsibility of the bus monitor is to provide supervision and assistance to the students while they are on the bus. The bus monitor is also the direct connection between Inly students and the school.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Student Supervision: The bus monitor is responsible for supervising students as they board the bus, ensuring that they follow safety protocols, and maintaining order during the ride. This includes assisting students with getting on and off the bus, helping them find seats, and ensuring that they remain seated and well-behaved during the ride.
-
Safety: Ensuring the safety of students is a top priority. The bus monitor should be vigilant about students wearing seat belts, keeping the aisle clear, and reporting any safety concerns to the bus driver and Director of Student Life & Strategic Programs.
-
Communication: Effective communication with students, the bus driver and school teachers is essential. The bus monitor should relay important information to students, assist with communication between the driver and students and report any issues or incidents to the appropriate school teachers/leaders.
-
Behavior Management: Addressing disruptive behavior and ensuring a calm and orderly atmosphere on the bus is part of the bus monitor’s role. This involved enforcing the Inly’s code of conduct and addressing any behavioral issues in a professional manner.
-
Attendance: Keeping track of student attendance as they board and exit the bus is important for ensuring all students are accounted for and safely transported.
-
Positive interaction: Building a positive rapport with students and maintaining a friendly and supportive demeanor can contribute to a comfortable and enjoyable bus ride for all students.
-
Cleanliness and Order: Keeping the bus clean and organized is also part of the bus monitor’s responsibility. This includes ensuring students do not leave trash or belongings behind.
