Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing welding inspections at fabrication shops and construction sites, preparing detailed inspection reports, and ensuring compliance with applicable codes, specifications, and industry standards. This role requires excellent communication skills, strong technical knowledge, and a commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform welding inspections at fabrication shops and project sites.
- Prepare accurate and detailed inspection reports documenting observations and findings.
- Communicate inspection results and recommendations to engineers, project managers, superintendents, and welders.
- Verify compliance with welding procedures, project specifications, and applicable codes.
- Perform visual inspections, dimensional checks, and quality assessments of welded components.
- Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and submittals.
- Collaborate with project teams to identify and resolve quality-related issues.
- Maintain strict adherence to company and industry safety standards.
Required Qualifications
- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification (required).
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Certified Welding Inspector.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in welding and fitting.
- Experience with AWS D1.1 structural welding inspections.
- Ability to prepare professional welding inspection reports.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with engineers, project managers, superintendents, and fabrication personnel.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to stand and walk for up to 10 hours per day in fabrication shops and construction environments.
- Ability to lift 5–25 lbs., climb ladders, and safely work in industrial environments.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Ability to perform dimensional inspections and swing a 10 lb. sledgehammer when required.
Preferred Qualifications
- American Welding Society (AWS) certifications or additional credentials.
- Experience inspecting structural steel and reinforced steel installations.
- ASNT Level II certifications in one or more of the following:
- Visual Testing (VT)
- Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)
- Dye Penetrant Testing (PT)
- Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
- Experience with:
- Ultrasonic Testing (UT) Level II
- Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) Level II
- Visual Testing (VT) Parts A & B
- Structural Steel – Welding
- Structural Steel – Bolting
- Dimensional checking of fit-up and weldments
Pay: $25.19 - $36.00 per hour
