New Jersey Respiratory Associates (NJRA) is seeking dedicated Respiratory Therapists to provide specialized PDPM respiratory assessments throughout our skilled nursing facility network.
This unique role combines respiratory care, clinical assessments, and documentation review to support facilities in accurately identifying respiratory conditions and maintaining compliance with Medicare’s Patient-Driven Payment Model (PDPM).

- Conduct comprehensive respiratory assessments within skilled nursing facilities.
- Evaluate patients’ respiratory history and current respiratory status.
- Assess oxygen utilization, respiratory treatments, and pulmonary conditions.
- Identify respiratory diagnoses including, but not limited to:
o COPD
o Chronic Respiratory Failure
o Other chronic pulmonary conditions
- Assess breathing patterns, secretions, and oxygen saturation.
- Complete structured PDPM respiratory evaluations on a designated assessment cycle.
- Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant documentation of respiratory findings.
- Collaborate with nursing, rehabilitation, and facility leadership teams.
- Educate facility staff on respiratory conditions and best practices when appropriate.
- Support facilities in maintaining compliance with Medicare PDPM requirements.
- Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
- Current state Respiratory Therapist license in the state of practice.
- Strong clinical assessment and documentation skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple facilities and patient caseloads.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Previous experience in Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNF) or Long-Term Care (LTC).
- Experience with PDPM, MDS, or clinical documentation initiatives.
- Familiarity with chronic pulmonary disease management.

Physical and Emotional Demands: Good physical and emotional health. As the Respiratory Therapist may be required to stand or sit for long periods of time, lift and move patients, and work in a variety of healthcare settings, including hospitals, clinics, and home healthcare.
Exposure Risks: Normal work routine could involve exposure to blood and body fluids. Responsible for following OSHA guideline standard and the use of universal precautions.
Working Conditions: Hours indicated by the residents and community's needs. Must be willing to work weekends and holidays.
If your assignment involves caring for individuals on life-support, where having a therapist in-house is required by law, you will need to make arrangements to come to work during inclement weather. These arrangements can be in coordination with NJRA, and may involve alternative modes of transportation, such as a taxi, or showing up to work earlier or staying at work later then your scheduled shift.
