Project Manager – Residential Remodeling / Design Build
Location: Ann Arbor, MI (In-Person / On-Site)
Job Type: Full-Time, Monday – Friday (8-hour shifts)
Pay Range: $80,000 - $90,000 / year (plus annual performance-based bonus)
Build beautiful spaces. Lead with autonomy. Join an award-winning team.
Are you an experienced construction professional looking for real autonomy, a supportive team, and a portfolio of high-end projects you can truly be proud of?
The Project Manager (PM) plays a critical leadership role in our design-build process. As Project Manager, you’ll take ownership of remodeling projects from design hand-off through construction completion. You’ll be the hub of coordination, ensuring everything from subcontractor scheduling to punch lists are executed in a timely manner, with excellence. This role balances leadership, organization, communication, and occasional hands-on carpentry. You’ll report to the Production Manager and collaborate with sales, design, and field teams to deliver outstanding results—on time, on budget, and with happy clients.
Rochman Design Build is a highly respected, award-winning boutique residential remodeling firm in Ann Arbor. Since 1989, we have focused on a "relationships first" model—building lifelong connections with our clients and fostering a collaborative, low-stress, and supportive culture where every team member is valued.
What You’ll Do
- Own the Project: Act as the leader on your job sites—manage subcontractor schedules, trade partner coordination, inspections, and meticulous quality control.
- Partner with Clients: Cultivate great relationships through proactive communication, setting expectations, and hosting weekly site meetings.
- Maintain the Standard: Ensure every architectural detail adheres to our high standards of craftsmanship and 5-star client expectations.
- Stay Connected to the Craft: While this is a management position, you aren't afraid to pick up tools or step in with rough/finish carpentry when a critical project phase or punch list requires it.
- Drive the Tech: Keep projects on time and on budget using our digital management tools (JobTread, mobile apps, and daily field logs).
What We’re Looking For
- Residential Expertise: 5+ years of hands-on experience in residential construction and remodeling (with a deep understanding of structural framing, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and finish trades).
- Management Mindset: 2+ years of experience managing residential job sites, timelines, budgets, and sub-contractors.
- Mastery of Carpentry: Strong command of both rough and finish carpentry skills, plus the necessary tools to use on-site when needed.
- Tech-Savvy Organization: High proficiency with digital tools, project management software, and clear email communication.
- Logistics: A valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and a professional, reliable vehicle (Truck/Van/SUV) capable of transporting occasional tools/materials.
- The Right Fit: A self-directed, dependable leader who remains calm under pressure and values a positive team synergy.
