Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Excavation Estimator to join our excavating team. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately estimating costs related to excavation projects, reviewing construction drawings, and managing project budgets from inception to completion. Your expertise will help ensure our projects are delivered efficiently, on time, and within budget. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to large-scale infrastructure developments by applying your strong technical knowledge and negotiation skills.
Duties
- Review and interpret detailed construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications related to excavation work.
- Develop comprehensive project estimates by calculating material requirements, labor costs, equipment needs, and other resources using estimating software.
- Price materials accurately by analyzing blueprints and coordinating with suppliers to secure competitive rates.
- Manage project budgets by monitoring costs throughout the project lifecycle, implementing cost control measures, and adjusting estimates as needed.
- Negotiate contracts with vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure favorable terms while maintaining quality standards.
- Collaborate with project managers and construction teams to review project scope and ensure estimates align with project goals.
- Assist in managing contracts, change orders, and ensuring compliance with project specifications and safety standards.
- Support project management efforts by providing accurate cost forecasts and contributing to overall project planning.
Experience
- Proven experience in heavy civil or excavation estimating within the construction industry.
- Strong background in construction drawing review and interpreting technical documents.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining accuracy in estimates.
- Excellent negotiation skills with vendors, clients, and subcontractors.
- Hands-on construction site experience that provides practical understanding of excavation operations.
- Knowledge of construction contracts, cost management strategies, and project management principles.
- Familiarity with construction site safety standards and regulations is a plus.
