The Demand Planner is responsible for developing and maintaining accurate demand forecasts that drive the company's Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (S&OP) process. This role collaborates closely with Commercial and Operations teams to balance customer demand with operational capabilities while optimizing inventory and service levels.
The ideal candidate is analytical, data-driven, and experienced in initiating monthly S&OP activities within a manufacturing environment. This position plays a critical role in ensuring alignment between customer demand, production capacity, and business objectives.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain rolling 12–24-month demand forecasts at product family, part number, and customer levels.
- Analyze historical sales, market trends, customer forecasts, seasonality, promotions, and new product introductions.
- Monitor forecast accuracy and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Maintain demand planning parameters within the ERP system.
- Collaborate with Commercial team to understand demand changes and customer requirements.
- Coordinate and facilitate the monthly S&OP process.
- Prepare demand, supply, inventory, and capacity analyses for executive review.
- Lead cross-functional meetings to reconcile demand and supply imbalances.
- Identify risks and opportunities related to capacity, inventory, and customer service.
- Develop scenarios and recommendations to support decision-making.
- Ensure alignment between commercial plans and operational capabilities.
- Improve demand planning processes, tools, and forecasting methodologies.
- Drive standardization and best practices across the planning organization.
- Support ERP and planning system enhancements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related filed required
- 3-5 years of demand planning or supply chain planning experience in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred
- Minimum 3 years participating in or leading an S&OP process.
- Experience with ERP systems (Syspro strongly preferred)
- Experience using forecasting and planning software.
- Strong Excel skills; Power BI experience preferred.
- Strong presentation, communication, and stakeholder‑management skills.
- Manufacturing background preferred.
- APICS/CPIM certification is a plus but not required
