Position Summary:
The Data Center Maintenance Technician is responsible for supporting the operational reliability, safety, and efficiency of data center facility systems. Working under the supervision of Grade 1 Building Engineers, this position performs routine and preventive maintenance, assists with equipment inspections and minor repairs, and ensures that all building systems meet the operational standards required for mission-critical environments.
Job Responsibilities:
· Perform routine facility walkthroughs to monitor environmental conditions, equipment status, and system performance.
· Support scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, including but not limited to:
· HVAC systems (air handlers, CRAC/CRAH units, chillers)
· Electrical distribution panels and UPS systems
· Pumps, valves, and piping systems
· Fire detection and suppression systems
· Assist Building Engineers during infrastructure troubleshooting and repair efforts.
· Execute preventive maintenance tasks as assigned, ensuring accurate documentation of work performed in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
· Monitor and record readings of equipment such as generators, chillers, electrical panels, and other critical infrastructure.
· Respond to building alarms and support incident response procedures under the direction of the Grade 1 Building Engineer.
· Maintain cleanliness and organization in mechanical and electrical rooms, as well as all work areas.
· Follow all safety protocols and company policies while working in high-security and sensitive environments.
Required:
· High school diploma or GED
· 1–3 years of experience in building maintenance or mechanical trades (HVAC, electrical, plumbing)
· Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems
· Willingness to learn mission-critical operations under the guidance of senior engineers
· Ability to work in confined spaces and lift up to 50 lbs
· Ability to use basic hand tools and diagnostic instruments
Preferred:
· Trade school, military technical training, or associate degree in mechanical, electrical, or facilities engineering
· Experience working in data centers or 24/7 critical environments
· Familiarity with CMMS systems and building automation systems (BAS/BMS)
· EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification or willingness to obtain
Schedule and Work Environment:
· May require rotating shifts, weekend work, and on-call availability depending on operational needs.
· Work will take place in indoor and mechanical room environments with exposure to noise, vibration, and varying temperatures.
