Oral Surgery Assistant

Summary:
As an Oral Surgery Assistant, you will support the doctor in the efficient and safe performance of surgical procedures, ensuring the best care for our patients.
Work Schedule:
Full-Time (30-35 hours per week)
- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 7:30 am - 5:00 pm
- Friday: 6:30 am - 2:00 pm
Responsibilities:
- Prepare surgical suites with necessary instruments, drapes, equipment, and supplies
- Assist during surgical procedures, including local anesthesia and IV sedation
- Provide care before, during, and after surgery
- Assist with new patient appointments, follow-ups, and consultations
- Educate patients on procedures, as well as pre- and post-operative care
- Verify patient identity and operative sites, and ensure all consent forms are complete
- Collaborate with the surgeon on the surgical plan and exposure methods
- Record clinical notes using practice management software (WinOMS preferred)
- Capture 3D scans, panoramic images, and perform intraoral scanning (IOS)
- Sterilize and disinfect instruments in accordance with infection control guidelines
- Ensure equipment is maintained as per manufacturer’s guidelines
- Prepare tray setups and maintain supply levels in each operatory
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Assist in managing dental implant procedures
- Present treatment plans
Qualifications:
- Compliance with state oral surgery practice requirements (X-ray certification, OSHA training)
- Certified in radiography and Basic Life Support (BLS); Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred or willing to obtain
- Minimum of 3 years of oral surgery, periodontal surgery, or surgical center experience, including sedation procedures
- Experience as a Surgical Assistant or Surgical Tech
- Preferred: OMSA or DAANCE certification
