About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Commercial Refrigeration and Commercial Kitchen Repair Service Technician to join our field service team. In this role, you will travel to customer locations to diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial refrigeration systems and, preferably, commercial kitchen equipment. You’ll use your technical skills and strong customer service mindset to keep our clients’ operations running safely and efficiently.
What You’ll Do
- Diagnose and repair malfunctions in commercial refrigeration equipment (walk-ins, reach-ins, ice machines, etc.).
- Order and install replacement parts as needed to complete repairs.
- Repair, replace, and calibrate controls, thermostats, switches, fuses, and electrical wiring.
- Repair, replace, and calibrate components on natural gas and LP gas systems where applicable.
- Fabricate, assemble, and install electrical wiring, controls, and piping as required.
- Wire and connect motors, pumps, compressors, temperature controls, heating elements, and humidity controls.
- Follow proper refrigerant handling procedures according to federal EPA 608 code.
- Participate in our on-call rotation (approximately one weekend per month).
- Communicate clearly with customers about recommended repairs, safety, and maintenance.
- Promote a positive work environment and company culture while representing our brand on customer sites.
Required Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED.
- Experience: 4+ years of hands-on experience in commercial refrigeration repair and maintenance.
- Licenses & Driving: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Technical & Soft Skills:
- Strong mechanical aptitude and refrigeration troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently in the field and interact professionally with customers.
- Compliance:
- Ability to pass background checks, clearances, and maintain required certifications.
- Ability to pass drug tests prior to and periodically during employment.
Preferred Qualifications
Education & Training:
- Associate’s degree or trade-school certification in Refrigeration or a related field.
Certifications:
- CFESA Certified Technician.
- EPA 608 Certification (Universal or Type I/II/III) to handle refrigerants independently.
Experience:
- Experience in commercial kitchen equipment repair (ovens, fryers, dishwashers, steamers, etc.).
- Prior experience in field service / on-the-road service for commercial customers.
- Experience working in restaurants, food service, grocery, or hospitality environments.
Technical Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and service manuals.
- Comfort working with electric, gas, and refrigeration systems in a variety of settings.
Physical Requirements
- Able to work in extreme conditions (heat, cold, confined, and dirty environments).
- Able to bend, reach, kneel, and climb as needed for service work.
- Able to stand for extended periods while working on equipment.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Able to work safely in all food service environments (restaurants, cafeterias, commercial kitchens).
Schedule
- Full-time, typically Monday–Friday, with occasional weekend on-call shifts (about one weekend per month).
- Some schedule flexibility based on customer needs and emergency calls.

Pay: Up to $45.00 per hour
