Physical Education (P.E.) Instructor / CoachJob Summary
Sunflowers Academy is seeking an energetic, enthusiastic, and dependable Physical Education (P.E.) Instructor / Coach who is passionate about helping young children develop healthy habits, confidence, coordination, and a lifelong enjoyment of physical activity.
The P.E. Instructor/Coach will plan and provide engaging, developmentally appropriate physical education experiences for preschool and elementary-aged students. This position focuses on physical fitness, gross motor development, movement, sportsmanship, teamwork, health, and overall wellness.
The ideal candidate is positive, patient, energetic, and able to create a safe and encouraging environment where every child can participate and experience success, regardless of skill or ability level.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate physical education lessons and activities.
- Create a positive, child-centered environment that encourages participation, movement, teamwork, and confidence.
- Support children's physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development through structured movement and fitness activities.
- Teach foundational skills related to physical fitness, health and wellness, sports, games, rhythms, dance, coordination, and body movement.
- Adapt and differentiate activities based on children's ages, abilities, developmental levels, and individual needs.
- Ensure maximum participation while maintaining a safe and appropriately supervised environment.
- Demonstrate and explain basic movement skills, game strategies, sportsmanship, and appropriate use of equipment.
- Develop lesson plans and supplemental activities that are engaging, organized, and developmentally appropriate.
- Provide students with positive, constructive, and ongoing feedback.
- Encourage a growth mindset by helping students build confidence, perseverance, and a positive attitude toward physical activity.
- Establish and maintain appropriate standards of student behavior and classroom management during P.E. activities.
- Maintain P.E. equipment and activity areas in a clean, safe, and organized manner.
- Collaborate with teachers and school administrators to incorporate movement, physical activity, health, and wellness throughout the school day.
- Participate in and support school-wide programs, special events, field days, celebrations, and other activities as assigned.
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with students, families, faculty, staff, and administration.
- Follow all school policies, safety procedures, licensing requirements, and applicable regulations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field preferred. Relevant education and experience may be considered.
- Previous experience teaching or coaching physical education, sports, fitness, or movement activities for children preferred.
- Experience working with preschool and/or elementary-aged children strongly preferred.
- Florida DCF 45-hour Child Care Training coursework preferred or willingness to complete required coursework within the established timeframe after hire.
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification, or ability to obtain certification as required.
- Must successfully complete all required background screening and employment requirements.
Experience
A minimum of one year of experience working with children in physical education, athletics, recreation, coaching, or a school/childcare setting is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to work successfully with young children, families, coworkers, and the public in a professional school environment.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
