About the Role
We are looking for a practical Staff Mechanical Engineer to act as the primary bridge between our electrical and mechanical design groups and the manufacturing floor during the entire product lifecycle. You will be tasked with spearheading Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) efforts, facilitating the smooth transition of products from initial concepts to full-scale production, and providing essential support for prototype creation, manufacturing preparation, and ongoing product enhancements.
The perfect candidate is someone who excels in a dynamic manufacturing setting, takes pride in being active on the production floor, and possesses a deep background in high-volume product development, electromechanical systems, and working across diverse teams.
Your Impact

Oversee the creation of mechanical parts and electromechanical systems, managing the process from initial design through production and later-stage cost-saving efforts.

Act as the main point of contact between the design team and production staff to ensure that design goals are fully compatible with manufacturing processes and requirements.

Help optimize production by leading DFM and DFA evaluations to enhance assembly speed, ergonomics, serviceability, and automation potential.

Assist in the creation of prototypes by performing hands-on tasks such as testing, troubleshooting, rapid prototyping, fit checks, and resolving manufacturing hurdles.

Work alongside engineering teams and technicians to ensure early prototypes are validated effectively while adhering to tight project timelines.

Record manufacturing insights and design improvements to foster a culture of continuous product evolution and better future design iterations.
Required Background

A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related technical field.

At least 7 years of practical experience in product development, specifically with high-volume electromechanical goods.

Solid grasp of mechanical engineering principles combined with a functional understanding of electrical systems and their integration.

Proven ability to design or support various assemblies, including busbars, wire harnesses, control panels, sensors, sheet metal, plastics, or PCBA components.

Skilled in the use of 3D CAD software, PLM tools, BOM management, and technical documentation.

Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to handle competing priorities in a fast-paced production environment.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience utilizing GD&T, performing tolerance stack-up analyses, and working with high-volume production methods.

A professional history in production support, process engineering, or manufacturing engineering.

Experience providing support for complex electromechanical systems, high-voltage products, or battery technologies.

Familiarity with standard communication protocols including Ethernet, LIN, or CAN.

Experience assisting with production ramp-ups, root cause analysis, design validation, and rapid prototyping efforts.
