We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly, verify their information, and check them in efficiently
- Schedule appointments accurately while managing the clinic calendar and coordinating follow-up visits
- Collect and process medical payments and insurance claims, including medical billing and coding in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Review medical documentation for completeness and accuracy, ensuring adherence to clinical confidentiality policies
- Handle phone communication professionally, providing clear information on appointment scheduling, insurance inquiries, and general clinic questions
- Maintain organized medical records and electronic health records (EHR), ensuring proper filing, data entry, and document review
- Assist with health insurance verification, prior authorizations, and understanding of Medicare or other payer requirements
- Support clinical staff with administrative tasks such as preparing care plans, updating patient information, and managing office supplies
Experience
- Proven experience working in a medical office setting or healthcare environment with strong clerical skills
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks is highly preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and medical billing procedures
- Experience with health insurance processes including Medicare claims and documentation review
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively serve diverse patient populations
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive patient information with discretion in accordance with HIPAA standards
- Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel
- Excellent customer service skills combined with phone etiquette and professional communication style
