Overview:
The Subcontractor Sourcing & Compliance Specialist is responsible for identifying, vetting, and onboarding qualified subcontractors across new and existing markets. This role supports the estimating and compliance teams by continuously expanding and strengthening the subcontractor network to ensure complete bid coverage, competitive pricing, and high-quality trade partnerships.
Responsibilities:
These responsibilities/functions may include but are not limited to the following:
- Collaborate with the Director of Compliance and Lead Estimator (GC Services) to understand all position expectations
- Communicate with EVP/General Counsel regarding contract requirements
- Proactively identify and source new subcontractors across all major trades, with a focus on both new geographic markets and under-covered scopes in existing markets
- Build and maintain a robust, diversified subcontractor database aligned with company project types and regional needs
- Research local and regional trade contractors in target expansion areas (e.g., new branch markets, underserved regions)
- Attend industry events, trade associations, and networking functions to grow relationships and contractor pool
- Work directly with estimating teams to help fill trade coverage gaps ahead of bids
- Ensure each trade package has sufficient bidder coverage (3–5 qualified bidders minimum target)
- Support entry into new regions by building trade partner networks from scratch
- Develop strategic subcontractor coverage plans by region and trade
- Identify key “anchor subs” in each market for critical scopes
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with subcontractors
- Serve as a point of contact for new subcontractors entering the company’s bidding system
- Promote company brand and reputation as a preferred general contractor partner
- Coordinate with internal teams (estimating, operations, compliance, safety) to evaluate subcontractor capabilities
- Maintain updated records for all approved subcontractors
- Actively participate in compliance meetings to ensure company standards are being met
- Promotes forward thinking and implementing positive change
- Occasional travel and occasional evening and weekend hours
Required Competencies/Skills:
- Experience in preconstruction or estimating (GC side preferred)
- Familiarity with bid management platforms (Procore)
- Experience sourcing subcontractors in multiple geographic regions
- Knowledge of subcontractor risk evaluation and prequalification processes
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing conditions
- Problem solving skills and analytical thinking
- Baseline understanding of construction trades and scope breakdowns
- Excellent verbal and written communication along with outreach skills
- The ability to work collaboratively with emotional intelligence and professionalism
- The ability to organize and prioritize
- Proactive in seeking out additional responsibilities and feedback on performance
- Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications; specifically Excel
- Being open minded with a desire to learn and grow
- Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move up to 25 pounds regularly/occasionally. Sedentary work. Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and or fingers.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
