We are seeking a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Prekindergarten Support Teacher to join our team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young children, values teamwork, and is eager to grow professionally in the field of early childhood education.
Current college students pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Development, or a related field, as well as individuals interested in beginning a rewarding career in early childhood education, are encouraged to apply.
Position Summary
The Prekindergarten Support Teacher works collaboratively with the Lead Teacher and Assistant Teacher to create a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment where children build the academic, language, physical, social-emotional, and kindergarten-readiness skills needed for a successful transition to elementary school.
This position supports classroom instruction, daily routines, learning centers, active supervision, and classroom organization while helping children grow academically, physically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.
Responsibilities
- Support the Lead Teacher and Assistant Teacher with daily classroom activities and routines.
- Encourage learning through play, exploration, and meaningful interactions.
- Build positive, caring relationships with children and families.
- Assist with learning centers, small-group activities, outdoor play, meals, rest time, and classroom transitions.
- Help prepare classroom materials and maintain a clean, organized, and engaging learning environment.
- Assist with classroom observations, documentation, and student portfolios as directed by the Lead Teacher.
- Encourage children's independence, confidence, problem-solving, and social-emotional development.
- Maintain active supervision and consistently follow all Texas Health and Human Services (HHSC) Minimum Standards.
- Work collaboratively with your classroom team and administration.
- Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, flexibility, kindness, and Christian values in daily interactions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working with preschool or prekindergarten-aged children is preferred, but not required.
- College coursework in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Development, or a related field is a plus.
- CDA credential or early childhood coursework is preferred.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
- Positive attitude, dependable attendance, and a willingness to learn and grow professionally.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to meet all Texas Health and Human Services (HHSC) licensing requirements, including background checks.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and actively participate in classroom activities.
- Reliable attendance and a professional work ethic.
- CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain).
