Opdo is an AI-native optics company. We build AI agents that verify optical designs against fabrication physics and deliver custom made parts. Backed by operators who have built and sold companies in this space.
We are looking for someone who can design real optical systems and is restless enough to want to reinvent how that work gets done.
What matters most
- You design optical systems well. Zemax or Code V, tolerancing, real shipped hardware, not just simulation.
- You have worked at a small company, started something, or are visibly done with the pace of a large one.
- You write code. Python at minimum; you use AI tools actively and think about automating your own workflow.
What You’ll Do
- Own the optical design function.
- Work directly with early customers on real systems.
- Build the DfM rules and verification logic that our AI agents run.
- Define what "production-ready" means for Opdo's platform.
- Shape the technical roadmap alongside the founders.
What We’re NOT Looking For
- Someone who needs a defined scope.
- Someone who has never talked to a customer.
- Someone who thinks AI is someone else's job.

The anticipated salary range listed for this role is only an estimate. Actual compensation is carefully determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, education/training, work experience, and key skills.

Pay: $130,000.00 - $180,000.00 per year
