Responsibilities
- Wash dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment promptly to maintain cleanliness and availability for food preparation and service
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks such as slicing, chopping, and portioning ingredients following established recipes and safety guidelines
- Support the culinary team in meal assembly and presentation to ensure timely service
- Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen surfaces, floors, and storage areas in compliance with sanitation standards
- Operate kitchen equipment safely including dishwashers, slicers, mixers, and other culinary tools
- Follow food handling procedures to ensure safety and prevent cross-contamination during meal prep and service
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate tasks, report equipment issues, and uphold safety protocols
Qualifications
- Prior experience in dietary departments or food service environments is preferred but not required; enthusiasm to learn is valued
- Knowledge of food safety management practices and adherence to safety standards in production environments
- Experience with menu planning, food preparation, cooking techniques, and recipe adherence is a plus
- Familiarity with operating kitchen equipment such as dishwashers, slicers, knives (including slicing techniques), and other culinary tools
- Strong understanding of food handling procedures, sanitation practices, and meal preparation processes
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with kitchen staff and team members
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy items safely, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
