American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an IMC/Intermediate Care position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital in Springfield, IL, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and active IL licensure.

IMC (Intermediate Care/Step-down) unit within a 562-bed, Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital
-
Average daily census of 38 patients
-
Night shift schedule: 3x12 or 4x12 hours (18:45–07:15)
-
Every other weekend required
-
Floating required to like units within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital
-
No on-call responsibilities
-
Charting via Cerner (experience required)
-
Active Illinois (IL) RN license required — pending licensure not accepted
-
Active BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI AHA cards not accepted)
-
Minimum 2 years of RN experience required

Prior experience in MS/Tele, Telemetry, Cardiac Tele, PCU/DOU/IMC, or Step-down setting required

Cardiac monitoring skills required: dysrhythmia interpretation and management, on-unit and remote telemetry monitoring

Cardiovascular case experience required: Post Cardiac Angiogram, Post MI, Pre/Post Cardiac Cath, Pre/Post Cardiac Surgery, Sheath Removal, TR Band
-
IV therapy skills required: port access, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care, PICC line management, peripheral line care, starting IVs

Medication management skills required: Heparin protocols, cardiac and vasoactive drip management with and without titration, PCA
-
Respiratory skills required: Chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable O2, non-invasive airway management

Additional required skills: CVA care, surgical drain management, feeding tube care, pre/post hemodialysis management, renal failure care, wound care/wound vac, isolation precautions

Cerner EMR experience required

SSN and DOB required for consideration

First-time travelers are welcome to apply

Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction

Any permanent or PRN employee of the Memorial Hospital System must have been separated for at least 12 months before being considered as a traveler

Travel pairs are not accepted

Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays

RTO of up to 5 days is ideally requested; anything beyond 5 days requires facility approval

13-week contract (approximately 91 days)

Teaching hospital experience preferred; Level I Trauma experience preferred

Previous charge nurse experience preferred

Scrubs: any solid color permitted
