Summary of position:
The Heavy Duty Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of heavy-duty vehicles. This role uses computerized diagnostic equipment, software and visual techniques in the management of vehicle systems repair.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Accurately diagnose and perform required repairs with proper documentation of all work performed on heavy-duty vehicles.

Make accurate use of the multi-point inspection form for each vehicle.

Perform all levels of preventive and routine maintenance services.

Ability to Quality Check work after repairs to ensure vehicle is fixed correctly.

Road test vehicles after repairs are performed.
-
Communicate with service advisor when additional work is needed or if repairs cannot be completed within the promise time.

Must use dollies, jacks, hoists, lifts and various tools in accordance with proper use and safety guidelines.

Use proper ergonomics when lifting to avoid strains.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent, required.

Tire experience and/or commercial tire experience, preferred.

Possess in-depth knowledge of diesel & gas engines, hydraulics, and electronics.

Must demonstrate working understanding of vehicle repair procedures, mechanical skills and the ability to lift heavy equipment.

Strong customer service skills and effective communication
Required Licenses or Certifications:

ASE Certification (Preferred)

Driver's License, unrestricted
-
CDL License, as applicable
Work Environment/Expectations:
-
Work will occur in well-lit, well-ventilated repair shop locations.
-
Exposure is grease, car exhaust and chemicals is expected.
-
Background noise from coworkers, vehicles and various tools is expected.

Maintain regular, punctual attendance.
-
Must wear required uniform.
-
Employee is required to provide and maintain specified tools to perform repairs as required or assigned, at employee’s expense.
Physical Requirements:

Bending, squatting and working under vehicles is expected.
-
Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds routinely.
-
Use of power tools and mechanic parts are used daily.
-
Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
-
Must be able to walk, talk, listen and speak clearly.

Use of fine motor skills is expected.
-
Must be able to raise arms above the head and shoulders for extended periods of time.
