About Us
At Computrols, we are shaping the future of smart buildings. We design and manufacture cutting-edge building automation systems (BAS) that optimize energy efficiency, comfort, and security. We are seeking a detail-oriented Electronics Test & RMA Technician to join our quality assurance team and ensure our electronic assemblies meet the highest standards of reliability and performance.
Position Summary
In this role, you will be responsible for the hands-on testing, troubleshooting, and quality verification of printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) used in our building automation controllers. You will work closely with our hardware design and manufacturing teams to identify defects, validate functionality, and ensure every board leaving our facility performs flawlessly in the field.
Key Responsibilities
- Functional Testing: Run automated and manual test sequences using standard test fixtures to quickly sort electronic assemblies into "pass" or "fail" categories.
- RMA Evaluation: Inspect and test returned customer units (RMAs) to verify reported issues and identify common, easily recognizable failures.
- Basic Diagnostics & Troubleshooting: Conduct first-level physical and electrical checks (e.g., verifying input voltages with a multimeter, checking for loose connectors, or looking for visible component damage).
- Board Repair & Soldering: Use hand-soldering tools to perform basic board modifications, touch-ups, or minor component replacements on faulty units.
- Defect Logging & Routing: Clearly document test results and flag complex failures that need to be escalated to the engineering team.
Qualifications & Skills
Required:
- Go/No-Go Testing: Comfort using basic test fixtures, digital multimeters, and standard diagnostic software.
- Visual Inspection: Ability to spot physical defects, such as bad solder joints, burnt components, or physical board damage.
- Basic Documentation: Strong attention to detail when logging test results and tracking returned RMA inventory.
Preferred (Nice-to-Have):
- Strong Soldering Skills: Hands-on experience with soldering (through-hole and surface-mount/SMT) for minor board repairs, rework, or wire-harness assembly.
- Familiarity with basic electronic components (resistors, capacitors, relays, connectors).
Benefits:
- 401(k) matching
- Dental insurance
- Health insurance
- Paid time off
- Vision insurance
