Position Overview
We are hiring a skilled and professional Armed Patrol Security Officer for daytime mobile patrol operations. This position is responsible for conducting mobile patrols, following assigned routes, responding to client needs, and managing the company dispatch phone during the shift.
The Day Shift Patrol Officer works independently as the sole patrol officer on duty during the day. Because there is only one patrol officer assigned to the day shift, this position requires a highly dependable, experienced, and self-motivated security professional who can make sound decisions, prioritize multiple responsibilities, and respond appropriately to changing situations.
The officer will work directly with a Patrol Lieutenant while conducting patrols, following assigned routes, and enforcing client-specific post orders.
This position requires maturity, professionalism, strong communication skills, sound judgment, and safe operation of company patrol vehicles.
Experience using TrackTik security software is preferred but not required.
Dispatch Phone & Client Communication
The Day Shift Patrol Officer will be responsible for monitoring and answering the company dispatch phone throughout the shift.
Responsibilities include:
- Answering incoming calls promptly and professionally
- Speaking with clients, employees, and members of the public in a respectful and professional manner
- Listening carefully to callers and determining the appropriate response
- Responding to client needs and requests in a timely manner
- Determining when a call needs to be redirected to another employee or department
- Forwarding sales-related calls to the appropriate Sales Representative
- Communicating important information to the appropriate employee or supervisor
- Maintaining professionalism and composure during difficult or high-pressure calls
- Documenting or reporting relevant calls and client requests when necessary
The Day Shift Patrol Officer must be able to balance dispatch responsibilities with mobile patrol duties and prioritize calls and field responsibilities appropriately.
Pay & Training
- Training Rate: $15.00/hour
- Regular Patrol Rate: $20.00/hour after successful completion of training and FTO
Paid Training Includes:
- One-week Security Training Academy
- Utah Guard Card classroom training requirements
- 5-Day Field Training Officer (FTO) Program
The company provides the required classroom training hours for the Utah Guard Card; however, the employee is responsible for the cost of obtaining the license.
Additional Pay Incentives
Pay raises available for:
- Spanish speaking ability
- CPR Certification
- EMT Certification
- Paramedic Certification
Additional raises are available every 6 months up to the 2-year mark.
Armed Officer Requirements
Applicants for the armed position must:
- Provide their own full-size duty 9mm pistol
- Successfully pass armed qualification training
- Demonstrate safe firearm handling at all times
- Maintain all required armed licensing/certifications
Responsibilities
- Conduct armed mobile patrols using company vehicles
- Follow assigned patrol routes and client post orders
- Work under the direction of the Patrol Lieutenant
- Respond to client needs and requests
- Monitor and answer the company dispatch phone
- Professionally handle incoming calls and redirect calls to the appropriate employee when necessary
- Complete accurate reports and incident documentation
- Utilize TrackTik software for patrol tracking and reporting
- Respond appropriately to incidents and emergencies
- Provide strong customer service and professional interaction
- Maintain readiness and situational awareness
- Work independently while maintaining communication with company leadership
- Prioritize patrol, dispatch, and client responsibilities appropriately
Experience Requirements
Because the Day Shift Patrol Officer will be the only patrol officer working during the day, we are seeking an experienced security professional who can work independently and exercise sound judgment.
Ideal candidates should have:
- Previous mobile patrol security experience
- Experience working independently with limited direct supervision
- Experience responding to security incidents and client requests
- Strong communication and customer-service skills
- The ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously
- The ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
- Strong situational awareness and decision-making skills
Safe Driving Standards
Because this role involves operating company patrol vehicles, officers must:
- Maintain safe and defensive driving habits
- Follow all traffic laws and speed limits
- Avoid distracted or reckless driving
- Promptly report vehicle issues or accidents
- Maintain professionalism while operating company vehicles
A poor driving record or unsafe driving behavior may disqualify applicants or result in termination.
Grooming & Uniform Standards
Armed officers are expected to maintain a high professional standard, including:
- Clean and complete uniform
- Proper grooming and hygiene
- Duty gear worn securely and professionally
- Professional appearance and conduct while on duty
- Compliance with all company uniform and equipment standards
Qualifications
Applicants must:
- Be at least 21 years old
- Possess a valid driver’s license
- Have a clean driving record
- Have no felony convictions
- Be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English
- Be drug free (medical marijuana card exceptions considered in accordance with applicable laws)
- Be able to obtain a Utah Guard Card
- Be dependable, professional, and willing to learn
- Have previous patrol security experience
- Be comfortable working independently
- Have strong verbal communication and customer-service skills
